What to expect
This is a unique opportunity to enjoy a private cooking cooking class to explore traditional culture and cuisine. Join Patrizia and Giovanni in their backyard garden to barbecue together. Depending on the menu you choose you will barbecue meat or fish or vegetables.
All the meat is sourced locally, and the sardinhas and vegetables are sourced fresh from a local food market (Mercado Municipal). The fresh fish normally comes from Nazaré (a small fishing hamlet) and the vegetables are from local family producers.
Your menu might include dishes such as grelhadas de carnes mistas (mixed grilled meat) with pimentos assados (a special Portuguese ratatouille) or sardinhas assadas (grilled sardines) with herb potatoes, served only on Saturdays.
If you are vegetarian, enjoy a selection of verdura grelhada (grilled vegetables including courgettes, onions, aubergines and potatoes) seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and chopped fresh herbs from the garden. You will also be served chilled sparkling vinho verde with the vegetarian menu, robust red wine from the Sétubal peninsula to go with the meat menu and still vinho verde for the fish. End your meal with a fresh mixed fruit salad.
